What a Weekend!

Sorry for missing yesterday's post - I'm having some computer problems.

SATURDAY
We had a fabulous time on Saturday! A virtual army of volunteers came out with me and yes - in the rain - we completed three polls! Lots of support & lots of fun - very little door-slamming from the competition- made for a really great day! This pic shows just some of our group!

Then it was on to the Moose Game with the Leader. Hugh, Steve Andjelic (Seine River), Phil Gass (PC Staffer) and I had a great time at the game. We met lots of fans - both of the Moose and of our Party - and had the Moose won - it would have been a perfect game! Oh well - we got a great picture with my friend Dancin' Gabe.
SUNDAY
Today started with a quick office clean-up before our Open House (12 - 2:00 pm EVERY Sunday). We had a really good turnout for the event with family, friends, constituents, and volunteers all joining us for some munchies and conversation! Then it was off for more door-knocking with some more of our great team! It is working really well having the vehicle following along with us. Not only does it help transport the water, extra brochures and resource material, but it also lets the residents know what's going on in their neighbourhood! We've had lots of positive comments about the "Trudymobile"!
It was an exciting day today in the signage department too! Our billboard is up! Yikes - if you have never experienced this - nothing can prepare you for the shock of seeing your face on a billboard! It's on the corner of St. Mary's and Maralbo (near Dakota) and coincidentally it just happens to be on the building my friends jewellry store - Universal Gems - is located in. I wish I could see her face when she arrives at work!
Mick (my campaign manager) and Cary (my bro) also signed our big truck and then went out and installed a couple of huge 4' X 8' signs with my picture. It's like having little billboards.
Then we received a whole slew of sign requests from our phone banks - so that was also very exciting. It's all good - just need to keep our nose to the grindstone and make sure our voters come out to vote! And don't forget - no matter where you live - that means you!
More pics tomorrow when my computer is working better (I hope!)

Sounds like you are busy and having fun with this election. All the very best on voting day; I think we need a change.

Hello Trudy,

Congratulations on your decision to run in this spring’ s provincial election. I watched you run in last years civic election for Daniel mac. I have a few questions for you… BTW, I live in Minto, so I would not be eligible to vote for you….

I thought you were one of our “New Neighbours” in STREETS a few years ago? Did you leave Spence? While I respect your decision to be where you want to be, I would be sorry to have you leave our neighbourhood. I sincerely appreciate everything you did with the BIZ and it was fantastic to have such a booster of the West End, who then incidentally lived here as well and knew the day to day realities.

I was curious when I say your face on the info for Kenny ( can’t remember her last name) from Tomi Tola. I remember asking you in the civic election which party you adhered to and you said you didn’t’ really have a party affiliation. What made you choose PC?

Again, thanks for your time, I understand how busy the campaign trail is….you lead a wonderfully visible campaign in the fall, I wish you all the best with this one. (My kids still remember your Trudy truck with the megaphone on Sargent!)

PS, in the fall you had my boy eating pineapple on your web site, this time you have me on the Falcon’s mural photo…i am in the colourful dress.

Have a great day,

Shirley Haynes

Agnes Street.

(ps this is here, because your email box is full)

Thanks everyone for taking the time to stop by and post your comments and for all the moral support. It's very much appreciated.

Shirley, if you'll send me your e-mail address I'll answer all your questions.

I've finally figured out why my e-mail was full so that shouldn't happen again! And it wasn't the "in basket" for all you techies out there giggling! :)

Post-election I plan to continue the blog - but we'll be able to get into more detail about specific issues! I think it's a great way to keep in touch with my constituents! (Keep smiling!)

hey trudy, thanks for the response! i know how how busy campaigns are...
again, i don't live in riel, i live in minto... but i wonder about the whole "lets bring back the jets" thing?
didn't hugh read the Free Press's series about why it won't work... hasn't he heard why it is SO much work and i (i'll call myself a young person..30), don't want them back? i'll take the moose, the goldeyes, the spending on social issues instead of wonderfully talented, but millionaire athletes?

again, thanks for taking the time!
